Serdar Vardar is an architect living in New York. He holds a Master of Science degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSU) in Istanbul, Turkey, for which he wrote a thesis entitled "An Examination of Sustainable Design Strategies in Relation to the Living Building Challenge." He is a registered architect in Istanbul with several years of experience working on a variety of residential, commercial, landmark preservation, and renovation and restoration projects. After moving to New York in 2011, he studied the Advanced Architectural Certificate Program at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, while continuing to work on several projects as a freelance architect. Since 2016, he has been working as an architectural designer at C3D Architecture LLC and pursuing licensure in New York. Passionate about sustainability and environmental ethics, he is also working towards LEED AP and Living Future Accreditation. Over the past decade he has had the responsibility of overseeing architectural aspects in the development of the schematic design of new buildings; producing DOB sets, construction documents, energy analysis, and zoning analysis; and surveying historical buildings and transforming them into the new spaces. His work on projects of varying scales and scopes has also involved coordinating with client needs, working with design and technical professionals and outside consultants and structural engineers, as well as replying to RFIs during the construction phase.
